Smog Checks for Older & Classic Vehicles
If your car is old enough to have a cassette player, you've probably heard this line at other stations: "Sorry, we don't test those anymore." We do. MT Star Smog Check is a family-owned, STAR-certified, test-only station, and smog testing older vehicles is one of our specialties.
Vehicles from 1995 and older, and 1996–1999 models, are tested on the older BAR-97 style equipment rather than the newer plug-in test — and a lot of stations have simply stopped offering it. Our technicians have years of experience with classic cars, older trucks, and long-owned family vehicles, and we take the time to run the test properly. Bring us the car other shops turned away.
Pricing is straightforward: 1996–1999 vehicles: $70. 1995 & older vehicles: $80.
Please note: our $10-off coupon is for 2000-and-newer vehicles only, so it doesn't apply to these older-car tests. If you'd like to check where your car stands before the official test, we also offer a pretest for $40. Most checks at our shops take 15–20 minutes, walk-ins are always welcome, and you can book online ahead of time and pay in person.
While you're here, we can also handle DMV paperwork in-house — registration renewals, title transfers, and replacement plates, titles, and stickers.
